Collective Angles
Thru January 9, 2005

Collective Angles showcases five regional artists in media ranging from prints and monographs to furniture in a special exhibit that opens at the Ice House on Friday, November 19 with a public reception from 7:30 to 9pm. Produced by the Morgan Arts Council, the show opening is the second stop on a downtown Artwalk. Collective Angles continues on display through January 9, 2005.

The Artwalk begins at 5pm at Mountain Laurel with a gala and artful Holiday Gift Showcase featuring everything from glass and jewelry to clocks, pottery and elegant artcrafted clothing on two floors. Mountain Laurel is one of the top 100 galleries in America.

Two of the artists featured in Collective Angles hail from West Virginia including show curator, Pat Timbrook. “Our team of artists,”siad Timbrook, “has enjoyed ‘forging’ our talents into a showcase of what we call, our Collective Angles — our combined efforts on paper of who we are as people, as well as artists.” Timbrook’s paintings and prints are abstracts and according to MAC Gallery Coordinator Julia Robey, “some of the best fine art we’ve shown at the Ice House.” The other West Virginia artist is Lenore Lancaster whose colored pencil drawings and prints will be on display.

Robey was excited about regional artists seeking out shows at the Ice House. “The other three artists of Collective Angles all hail from Cumberland, Maryland,” said Robey. “It’s great to showcase our neighbors.” Margaret Romero’s benches and stools are included along with monographs from Jean Barnes Downs and multi-media artwork from Judy DeHart Davis.

The Ice House Gallery special exhibit is funded through grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues. The Ice House is located on the corner of Independence and Mercer streets. The gallery is open from 11am to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays.
