Berkeley Springs, West Virginia invites you to

A Weekend of Enchantment and Faerie Fun

June 9-11 2006

HOME

Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim grey sands with light,
Far off by furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances,
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight;
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles,
While the world is full of troubles
And is anxious in its sleep.
WB Yeats

BE WARNED! There will be a full moon the evening ofthe Fairy Ball!

Take a look at some of these websites for ideas and inspirations!

note: these links will take you away into fairyland -- please use the back button on your browser to return (or, you can just clap your hands :>)

  • Efairies! Discover what kind of fairy you are, anyway
  • FaeriesWorld: fairy lore, links to costumes fairy music, etc'
  • The Faerie Trail website has lots of photos from people dressed as fairies, as well as wings for sale if you so desire
  • Faerie Monstrous has lots of pictures, information on fairy life style!
  • May Day Fairie Festival's website has a photo gallery of humans dressing up like fairies -- also a list of vendors who would be more than happy to help you get dressed
  • Need costuming ideas? Look no further than your local Goodwill or Rag Shop! Buy a prom gown and festoon it with chiffon, sequins, and other sparkly things.
  • Men, you can't go wrong with a pair of horns! Women love men in horns! Go to aforementioned Rag Shop or Goodwill and find an old tuxedo or leisure suit. Perrrrrrfect! Remember, goblins are faeries too.
  • Something mysterious happens when a human puts on a mask. It's as though the mask removes the wall between what is and what could be.
  • And for fairies sake, don't forget your wings!

"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." Thoreau

"It was the mask engaged your mind,
And after set your heart to beat,
Not what’s behind."
WB Yeats

"Your wings are real." Anonymous

"I think that people who can't believe in faeries aren't worth knowing." Tori Amos

"The magic is always there, as long as we keep looking for it." Travelling Matt, Fraggle Rock

"Obscured in adaptation and cynicism, bound by incredulity, magic was once lost in silence. Magic is awakening. You can hear its call." Lazarus

Thanks to the hollow hill for these glamourbombs
