SEEKING AREA AUTHORS FOR BOOK FESTIVAL
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ----The Morgan Arts Council (MAC) launches its inaugural holiday Berkeley Springs Book Festival on Saturday, November 26 at the Ice House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include books from local authors as well as a series of readings and short workshops.
“We’re looking for area authors who want to come and sell their books,” said Jeanne Mozier, one of the event’s organizers. There is no charge for a vendor table.
“We’re hoping that authors who have only a single book each might band together for a group table,” she said. Authors who cannot attend the festival can ask about how to offer their books for sale. “We plan a table for MAC’s three volumes of short stories which include work from more than 50 Morgan County writers,” said Mozier.
Kate Shunney, another organizer of the event, outlined workshop plans. “There will be a forum for emerging writers to read brief samples of their work as well as some interesting talks by established authors.”
Shunney said some of the main events will be John Douglas’ talk on ghost stories and murder mysteries, as well as Betty Lou Harmison and Jeanne Mozier talking about their new historic photo book of Berkeley Springs. Shunney will talk about the chapbook process for poets and read from her own poetry book.
“This is a free event and another great opportunity for the public to buy local,” said Mozier.
Authors interested in selling their book at the event should contact Mozier by emailing star@starwv.com.
