FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- 7/17/08 The long hair may be cropped but the fiddle, guitar, mandolin and hammer dulcimer remain to craft the original music of this acoustic group. Rooted in bluegrass, their music is filled with unusual rhythms, refreshing harmonies and a startling combination of European and classical influences. They are a semi-traditional mountain string band that can spin the memories of Irish reels and English hornpipes into the instrumentation reminiscent of a string quartet. Their four recordings date from the 1970s.
The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are sponsored by Carl M. Freeman Foundation. Additional funding for the free concert is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues. For more information about the Morgan Arts Council and the calendar of upcoming concerts visit www.macicehouse.org or call 304-258-2300. You can link to the music online from MAC's Website.
