AUDITIONS FOR THE CRUCIBLE AT ICE HOUSE

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- The Morgan Arts Council (MAC) announces auditions at the Ice House on Thursday and Friday, August 25 and 26 at 6:30 pm for a late October play.  The Ice House Theater Project is staging "The Crucible,"  Arthur Miller's award-winning play about the 17th century witch trials in Salem, MA.  Performance dates are October 21-23 and 27-30.  Tom and Beth Brooks direct the production, their eighth for MAC since 2003.

"The play is intense and filled with drama," said Brooks.  "The type of roles both beginning and experienced actors love."  There are two main age groups needed for the show: adult men and women from 30 to 80, and nearly a dozen teenage girls ages 13-17.  "We're also looking for women of color, young men and women in their 20s, pre-teen girls and a pre-teen boy" he said.   Audition material is available at the Morgan County Public Library and at the theater page online at www.macicehouse.org. Interested persons need only attend one night of the auditions.  Rehearsal schedules are available then.

Back stage individuals are also needed from set builders and stagehands to prop makers, box office personnel and more. "We haven't decided on the set yet," said Beth Brooks.  "Folks should stop by on an audition night and let us know how you want to be part of the fun."

Tom Brooks welcomed new actors to audition.  He has extensive experience as an acting coach and worked with individual actors during MAC's 2010-11 "Building Community Theater" project.  "The audience loves seeing new faces among the familiar ones.  We hope to cast a mixture of both," he said.
