WORLD MUSIC AT SUMMER CONCERT IN PARK
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- One World Tribe brings a danceable blend of jazz, reggae, African and Latin music plus some flashy guitar work to Berkeley Springs State Park on Saturday, July 30 at 5:30pm. Rain location for the Morgan Arts Council’s summer concert series is the nearby Ice House.
The energetic and multi-talented group represents in their members and music a truly global mindset matched by the remarkable full-spectrum of their musical skills. Simply by standing together on stage, One World Tribe lives and plays unity and harmony as well as proud social consciousness. Their polyrhythmic performance is visually rewarding and their sound is filled with driving percussion, odd-metered melodies and precise, multi-layered vocal harmonies.
One World Tribe began performing in 1994, started by bandleader Kennedy Thompson with diversity, justice and great music in mind. As their fan base expanded, they replaced cover tunes with original music but never deviated from their mission of expanding peace and tolerance through their performances. They have released three CDs.
One World Tribe invites everyone to bring their drums and feet to a pre-concert African drumming and dance workshop at 4pm in the park.
This concert is funded in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and West Virginia Commission on the Arts as well as hotel/motel tax from the town and county. Funding is also provided by the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour program.
