SKA BAND PERFORMS BERKELEY SPRINGS SERIES IN PARK

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV --- Rocking reggae/ska music from Baltimore's Players Band is featured on Saturday, August 15 at 5:30pm in the Morgan Arts Council's (MAC) summer concerts series in Berkeley Springs State Park. The concert's rain location is the nearby Ice House. Only one more concert after this one remains in the series.

More than 375 live shows after their formation a decade ago, The Players Band is a must-see group that can hit all the styles from Jamaican ska and reggae to rock. Many hear them as pioneers of an innovative sound, blending these styles and fanning the rhythm and blues flame that ignited ska in the islands originally. As is traditional with ska groups, the eight piece band boasts a muscular and upbeat horn section that includes a trumpet, trombone and bari sax as well as some solid percussion. They are a popular opening band having played with several Grammy award winning groups including the Isley Brothers. The Players Band has four CDs.

The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues.
