WEBER BROTHERS FINALE FOR SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- The final performance of the 25th Summer Concerts in the Park series on Saturday, August 20 showcases the crowd-pleasing, tightly-focused sound of the Weber Brothers. Produced by the Morgan Arts Council (MAC), the concert begins at 5:30pm in Berkeley Springs State Park with the Star Theater as rain location.
“We’ve been playing, playing, playing since we last were in Berkeley Springs,” said Ryan Weber. Describing two tours of Canada, a full production Paul McCartney Tribute Concert and their eighth CD coming out in October, Weber is looking forward to some downtime. “Berkeley is one of the best places I know to recharge our batteries,” he said. “Plus we know so many wonderful people there.” Their father, Rick, is the popular principal at Widmyer Elementary.
Joining Sam and Ryan Weber is their extraordinary keyboardist, Cookie Peer and young Marcus Browne on drums. Once upon time, the brothers did the music by themselves. And, for them, once upon a time started early. They were ten and twelve when they got their first guitars and by their mid-teens were playing gigs several nights a week. Then came their pilgrimage to the legendary Ronnie Hawkins, the man who mentored The Band, and a decade of touring Canada and the US as part of his back-up band, The Hawks.
According to MAC’s Executive Director, Mary Hott, the Webers were last summer’s most popular band drawing more than 700 people to the park. “We’re expecting another big crowd,” said Hott. “Especially since Ryan promised to rock like never before.”
This concert is funded in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and West Virginia Commission on the Arts as well as hotel/motel tax from the town and county.
The band is also scheduled to perform at the Troubadour Lounge on Friday night. For more information on other MAC activities, call 304-258-2300 or check online: www.macicehouse.org.
