KICK OFF CONCERT OF BERKELEY SPRINGS SERIES IN PARK
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV --- One of West Virginia's finest rhythm and
blues bands, Carpenter Ants, opens the 23rd year of the Morgan Arts
Council's (MAC) summer concerts series in Berkeley Springs State Park
on Saturday, July 11 at 5:30pm. The concert's rain location is the
nearby Ice House. Carpenter Ants performance is part of MAC's Back to
Our Roots yearlong celebration of roots art and music.
Playing together for 16 years, more than 2000 performances and a smash
tour of Moscow, this four piece band still has fun with their music.
The band includes Michael Lipton on guitar, Jupie Little, drums; Ted
Harrison, Bass and Charlie Tee, vocals/sax. It's no surprise that
they are noted for playing classic and forgotten American music since
Lipton is the founder of the WV Music Hall of Fame. Their trademark
sound boasts rich, soulful harmonies, stinging solos, and a rock-solid
rythm section as ranges from classic R&B, countr Swamp and gospel soul
with equal conviction. They've impressed noted musicians including
Bill "Hot Rod Lincoln" Kirchen who says: "the Carpenter Ants make a
joyful, righteous noise. They sound so good that it surprises me every
time I see them," he says.
"Carpenter Ants" has three CDs including the all-gospel "Picnic With
The Lord."
Following the summer concert in the park, Carpenter Ants move out to
the Troubadour for some late night music beginning at 9pm. They
return to the Troubadour for a Sunday afternoon show plus pig roast at
1pm.
The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are funded in part by the National
Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local
hotel/motel tax revenues. For more information about the Morgan Arts
Council and the calendar of upcoming events visit www.macicehouse.org
or call 304-258-2300. You can link to the music online from MAC's
Website.
