FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- 8/13/09 Morgan Arts Council -- Berkeley Springs, WV Press Contact only: Mary Hott --304-258-2300 www.macicehouse.org PHOTOS AVAILABLE FINAL SUMMER CONCERT IS NEW ORLEANS SOUND BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV --- The final concert of an impressive summer season brings the Junkyard Saints to Berkeley Springs State Park on Saturday, August 22 at 5:30pm. "MAC selected the Saints for our 23rd concert series because their New Orleans-style sound fits perfectly with our year of Roots music," says Mary Hott, executive director oft he producing Morgan Arts Council. The concert's rain location is the nearby Ice House. Based in Baltimore, this seven-piece group blends a variety of New Orleans party music to make it their own. The tight, high energy sound and powerful groove includes funk, swing, Latin and R&B with a splash of zydeco. Their original songs have a special flair that earns them national radio time and repeated WAMMIE awards for best roots rock group. "This is happy music," says Hott. "The audience will be on their feet dancing and we hope everyone goes home from the final summer concert thinking they came from a summer Mardi Gras in Berkeley Springs." The band as a full horn section of sax, trumpet and trombone as well as accordion and drums. The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues.
