THREE HOLIDAY GIFT WORKSHOPS AT ICE HOUSE

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- The Morgan Arts Council has
three individual art classes scheduled through the next ten days
to guide families and adults in making original gifts for the holidays.
All three classes are held at the Ice House.

On Saturday, December 5 at 10am, families and children are invited for
a free Art From the Start class focused on both holiday music and
making special craft projects. The class is taught by Sumaya
and Jennie Mallory. Art From the Start is a collaborative project
among MAC, Starting Points and Shenandoah Women's Health.

Tuesday, December 8 from 1 to 3pm, multi-talented artist Mary Klotz
teaches Kirigami, a method of making holiday pop-up cards. "These can
be the base for more elaborate art pieces or just the best greeting
cards you will ever give," says Klotz. "We'll turn simple pieces of
heavy paper into three dimensional greetings like Merry Christmas or
Noel." Klotz provides all the supplies and warns that sharp knives are used
in the making of these cards.

The final workshop is The Art of the Gift with designer, Michael
Dennis, scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at 10am. "We'll be
using unusual materials and decorative papers for a creative
approach to holiday gift wrapping," said Dennis. "We'll especially
look at the Japanese traditions of presenting gifts." Materials
are provided but attendees are welcome to bring any
additional decorative items. "Everyone should bring a
box or small gift to wrap," said Dennis. "Anyone wanting to take
this popular class needs to call immediately," says Mallory, MAC's
class coordinator. "There is a limited amount of space and the class
is almost full."

The Ice House is located at Independence and Mercer in downtown
Berkeley Springs. To reserve a spot in either Klotz' or Dennis' class,
call 304-258-2300. Check www.macicehouse.org for more information.
