AUDITIONS FOR PICASSO AT ICE HOUSE
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- The Morgan Arts Council (MAC) announces
auditions at the Ice House on Saturday, March 26 from noon to 4pm for
a late spring play. The Ice House Theater Project is staging a Steve
Martin comedy, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" on June 9 -12 and June
16-19. Kirsten Trump directs the production.
"The play is a fanciful, fun-loving look at a chance meeting between
Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian bar in 1904,"
explained Trump. "The dialog and story are just what an audience
expects from a comedian of Martin's genius."
The cast includes eleven parts for men and women ranging from early
20s to 70s. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a monologue from
the script which is on closed reserve at the Morgan County Public
Library where it can be read and copied.
Trump has been directing MAC's year long "Building Community Theater -
Taking the Next Step" project which includes an extensive set of
acting, directing, stage management and tech classes. "Although this
full-scale production marks the conclusion of the theater immersion
year," said Trump, "those auditioning do not need to have attended any
of the classes. This is when we hope to bring together people who've
been part of the Ice House Theater Project and some of the newcomers."
Trump is on a semester sabbatical from her position as an assistant
professor of theater at Shenandoah University.
Funding for the project is provided in part by the West Virginia
Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. For
