AFRICAN DANCE AND DRUM TROUPE IN BERKELEY SPRINGS

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV --- The free concert in Berkeley Springs State
Park on Saturday, August 8 at 5:30pm presents the colorful and
rhythmic Soul in Motion African dance and drum ensemble. Rain
location for the concert is the Ice House. The concert was scheduled
to compliment an African Art show and sale in the Ice House Gallery.
The gallery is open Friday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

Percussionist Michael Friend started the Soul in Motion Players in
1984 to share the richness of African-American culture through dance
and drums. The group now tours full time and celebrates its 25th
anniversary this fall. The company includes eight dancers and five
drummers as well as a poet or two. The drummers use shekera,
congas, djembes and djundjun drums.

The Morgan Arts Council's Summer Concerts in the Park are funded in
part by the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission
on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues. For more information
about the MAC and the calendar of upcoming events visit www.macicehouse.org
or call 304-258-2300. You can link to the music online from MAC's
