CHILDRENS CHOIR CONCERT AT THE ICE HOUSE

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- Building on a sold-out concert last year,
Mick Souter returns to the Ice House on Friday, October 29 for a
concert with the childrens choirs of Morgan County. Souter and the
children are performing the songs of Stephen Foster in a show
entitled: "Ring, Ring the Banjo." Stephen Foster is one of America's
most famous traditional songwriters from the Civil War era with songs
including "Camptown Races", "Oh Susanna" and "My Old Kentucky Home".
The show starts at 7:30pm.

"We are so pleased to make Mick available not only in the schools but
also to the community and the choirs," said Mary Hott, Executive
Director of the Morgan Arts Council, producer of Souter's weeklong
visit. "Rehearsing and performing with a musician like Mick is a type
of master class for the kids." Singers from the Sleepy Creek
Childrens Choir and Warm Springs Middle School, ranging in age from
five to 18, are part of the Friday concert.

Souter's musical versatility, historical knowledge and storytelling
skills are showcased by the concert as he plays , in costume, on
banjo, guitar, violin and harmonica. The music gets toes to tapping
and the stories highlight both Foster the man and the volatile times
in which he lived and wrote. "My mother was a teacher and spent years
teaching Stephen Foster songs to her students," said Souter about his
choice of Foster as one of the musical characters he portrays.

Souter's week in the schools takes him to all the fifth grades in the
county including Paw Paw, Greenwood, Pleasant View and Warm Springs
Intermediate. He has been presenting school programs in West Virginia
for nearly 20 years, winning high praise especially for the way he
involves the school children.

The Adopt-a-School activity and the concert are funded in part by the
Morgan County school system, the National Endowment for the Arts and
the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. Tickets for the concert may
be reserved now by calling 304-258-2300. The Ice House is located on
Independence and Mercer in downtown Berkeley Springs, For more
